The Computing and Software Systems major is designed for students who wish to develop considerable technical expertise, including exposure to a variety of programming paradigms, an understanding of the software development life-cycle and other key computing topics.

A Geomatics major will develop your knowledge of spatial measurement and analysis for both the human and natural environment. Your studies will integrate disciplines such as the mapping sciences, geographic information systems, remote sensing, geodesy and surveying.

Breadth Study in IT

At Melbourne, you can take IT as 'breadth' alongside your core degree / area of interest. By taking IT as breadth, you will expand your horizons and equip yourself with skills you can take directly into the workplace. There are 3 - 6 sequences of IT breadth subjects to choose from, depending on your degree.

Study alongside your Bachelor degree

Concurrent Diplomas

Coupled with your undergraduate degree (e.g. Bachelor of Commerce), a Diploma in Informatics can open up a whole new world of career opportunities by giving you an IT edge. The Diploma adds one semester to a normal three-year degree, allowing you to graduate with a degree and diploma in 3.5 years.
